Leonard Neufeldt kicks off fall Poetry Series Sept. 17 at Gig Harbor library

Poet Leonard Neufeldt will kick off the Fall Poetry Series at the Gig Harbor Pierce County Library at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17.

This series features free readings and workshops by Pacific Northwest poets.

Neufeldt was born and raised in the Dutch-Russian Mennonite hamlet of Yarrow, BC. He is a prize-winning poet, author and co-editor of 17 books.

The Fall Poetry series will continue through October, featuring:

▪ 7 p.m. Oct. 1; Christine Deavel, a Seattle poet, Washington State Book Award (2012) recipient and co-owner of Open Books: A Poem Emporium.

▪ 7 p.m. Oct. 15; Joseph Green, a poet from Longview, Wash. whose work has appeared in multiple publications.

▪ 7 p.m. Oct. 29; Lyn Coffin, a poet, playwright, writer of fiction and nonfiction and translator, as well as a college instructor. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Gig Harbor Library.
