Local toy store celebrates Halloween with a weekend’s worth of activities

Holidays are always a festive time at Teaching Toys Too, the toy store in the Gig Harbor Uptown shopping complex.

This year the store is celebrating the start to its busiest season with an extra Halloween treat: a book reading and craft day from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (Oct. 30).

The event will feature a book reading by store manager Sophia Wagner from the Halloween children’s book “Room on the Broom” written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

“It’s a Halloween favorite,” Wagner said of the picture book.

The book reading will be followed by a complimentary paper pumpkin craft.

Teaching Toys will also be participating in the Trick-or-Treat at Uptown from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 31).

The toy store will be handing out small toys to any child participating in the event who is wearing a costume.

These Halloween events are followed by the store’s final sale of the year, a 20-percent off storewide sale held Sunday (Nov. 1) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We love (participating). It’s so fun,” Wagner said of the Halloween celebrations. “It’s a fun, festive kickoff to the holiday season.”

Teaching Toys Too is an independent toy store located in the Uptown Shopping Center at 4635 Point Fosdick Drive NW.
