Library fun continues through August at the Gig Harbor library

Summertime activities at the Gig Harbor Pierce County Library continue through August with fun for all ages.

August events at the Gig Harbor library include:

▪ Stories for Babies: 9:30 a.m. Aug. 1 and 8

▪ Stories for Toddlers: 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 2 and 9

▪ Stories for Preschoolers: 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 and 9

▪ The Puppet Theatre Presents #2: 1 p.m. Aug. 1 — Pierce County Library puppeteers present “Jack and the Beanstalk” and Gunniwolf.” Ages 6 and older.

▪ Cloud Storage: 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 — What is cloud computing? How does it work and how can I use it? Learn basic definitions, find uses in daily life and discover free resources.

▪ Quick Start 3-D Printing: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 3 — Hands-on class. Get certified to use the library’s 3-D printers. Ages 12 and older.

▪ Rick Huddle: Playing with Words: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5 — Enjoy a fun mix of performed stories, songs and interactive improvisation games. Ages 3 and older.

▪ Tech Help: 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30 — Drop in and bring your questions and devices. Staff will help you solve your tech-related problems.

▪ SKY Yoga: Mindfulness for Life: 2 p.m. Aug. 11 — Children learn gentle postures, breathing practices and mindfulness exercises from a certified yoga instructor.

▪ Harbor Wild Watch: Two by Two: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 — Learn to classify marine and land animals. Play a fun, interactive matching game. Ages 4-9.

▪ Adult Fiction Book Discussion Group: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 — “The Martian” by Andy Weir. After a bad storm cuts his team’s Mars mission short, injured astronaut Mark Watley is stranded. Now he’s got to figure out how to survive without air, shelter, food or water on the harsh Martian landscape until the next manned mission in four year.

▪ Library Game Day: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 — Drop in for a variety of activities: mini-golf, hopscotch, obstacle course and more. All ages; children younger than 6 with an adult.

▪ El Grupo Spanish Talk Time: 12:30 to 2 p.m. every Friday — You are invited to join in Spanish conversation with El Grupo.
