Rollovers, rear-enders and cars in ditches keep Gig Harbor firefighters busy

Jan. 24: Two-car collision — Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One arrived to the intersection of Hunt Street NW and Wollochet Drive NW just after 5:30 p.m. to find a two car T-bone-type blocking accident. Medics assesed the five occupants of the vehicles. Two patients were transported for further evaluation and treatment.

Jan. 24 Vehicle rollover — Firefighters and medics were called to the intersection of 6th Avenue and Island Boulevard around 3:30 a.m .for a single-vehicle rollover accident. Both occupants got safely out of the vehicle. Neither needed transport for treatment. Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies began and investigation and arranged for a tow truck to clear the damaged vehicle.

Jan. 27 Rear-ender — Fire Department units responded to Borgen Boulevard and Burnham Drive for a rear-end collision just after noon. Both drivers, the only occupants of the vehicles, were assessed by medics. One driver was transported for further evaluation and treatment at a nearby hospital.

Jan. 27 Vehicle into ditch — A vehicle went off the road into a ditch on East Bay Drive around Shore Drive around 6 p.m. Fire department crews blocked a lane and evaluated the driver. The driver was not in need of transport. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is handling the accident investigation.
