Gig Harbor Beer Festival is back with brews, music, special guest. Here’s what to know
The 11th annual Gig Harbor Beer Festival returns to its regular date this year.
The festival for those 21 and older will be Saturday, May 14, 12-5 p.m. at the Uptown Gig Harbor Pavilion, 4701 Point Fosdick Dr.
Usually this festival is the weekend after Mother’s Day, but with the pandemic the 2020 event was canceled and the 2021 event was postponed until July of that year, according to event producer John Fosberg.
Tickets are $32 and can be purchased online, in-person at Gig Harbor Brewing’s Harbor Taproom and Tacoma Taproom & Brewery until Friday, or at the event. Proceeds benefit the Gig Harbor Kiwanis Club.
“Your ticket grants admission into the event, a 5 oz festival cup while supplies last and 10 taster tokens which are good at all the booths,” Fosberg said.
Attendees can expect a wide variety of Northwest craft brewers offering event-goers a mix of familiar favorites and new brews to taste. The event will also have live music from three different bands: Kristen Marlo, My Guilty Pleasure, and The Profits.
Heritage Distilling will also be at the event pouring cocktails, Fosberg said.
“We will be presenting the favorite beer award from our 2021 festival, which goes to Steve Schulz for their Showgun Double IPA. We ask all attendees grab a program and vote for their favorite this year,” Fosberg said.
The Tacoma Rainiers’ mascot, Rhubarb the reindeer, will be a special guest at the festival.
“He doesn’t come every year but he is coming this year,” Fosberg said.
The ticket website notes that the event is cash-only, there are no refunds due to weather or other trouble, and there is no food sold at the festival. Visitors can bring food into the festival from home or from nearby restaurants.
