You might alter your walking routine this week.

Part of the Cushman Trail will be closed Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4, in order for the city to perform maintenance work.

The trail will be closed from Rosedale to 96th Street, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on both days, according to the city’s social media post, for “some much-needed brush mowing.”

They will be cutting back some of the overgrown brush on the trail with a machine, Laura Pettitt, Tourism and Communications Director for the city, told the Gateway Tuesday morning.

“With the increasing amount of pedestrian traffic, completing the work with the trail closed is safer and more efficient,” the post said.

Temporary construction fences will be placed at both entrances. This is “to create a ‘hard’ closure and prevent pedestrians from using the trail despite the warning signs,” the post said.

Pedestrians can use other parts of the trail during the closure instead.
