St. Anthony receives recognition for superior improvements in patient safety

St. Anthony Hospital has been recognized by the Washington State Hospital Association for its achievements in improving patient safety.

The hospital was awarded the 2015 Washington State Hospital Association Achieving Best Care Award at the 83rd annual meeting of the association, held in Seattle.

“This is a great recognition for St. Anthony and (the staff’s) level of patient care,” said Scott Thompson, media relations manager for CHI Franciscan Health. “It goes to recognize our staff and how they provide excellent patient care.”

The award acknowledges patient care achievements in areas such as reduced patient infections, fall prevention, early elective deliveries and preventative measures against venous thromboembolism.

“Our physicians, nurses and staff take patient safety very seriously and we are glad to have our efforts recognized by our peers,” David Schultz, market president for the peninsula region of CHI Franciscan, said in a release. “This work helps us establish best practices in our hospital so that they become second nature, which is great news for our patients.”

St. Anthony is part of CHI Franciscan Health and one of the newest hospitals in Washington state. It joins only ten other Washington hospitals to have received this award.
