WSDOT to close Puyallup River Bridge

Drivers who use the northbound state Route 167 Puyallup River Bridge (Meridian) are encouraged to plan ahead for delays later this week.

From 7 p.m. Thursday (June 25) to 5:30 a.m. Friday (June 26), drivers will encounter alternating right- and left-lane closures on the northbound SR 167 Puyallup River Bridge. Over the weekend, motorists can expect a full closure of the northbound bridge.

To connect the roadway to the new bridge, crews will close all northbound SR 167 lanes across the river from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 29). During the closure, northbound drivers will follow a signed detour via state Routes 512 and 167.

All southbound lanes will remain open.

When the northbound lanes reopen, motorists will be driving across a new northbound bridge that will replace the 1925 steel truss bridge in use at present.

Drivers can learn more about current traffic conditions by visiting the Washington State Department of Transportation’s travel alerts and construction update webpages, and by following WSDOT’s regional Twitter account.
