Jury convicts man of molesting children at wife’s Key Peninsula day care

A jury convicted a man this week of molesting children at his wife’s Key Peninsula day care.

They found 52-year-old Jimmy Pierce guilty Tuesday of one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of attempted first-degree child molestation, and not guilty of two similar charges.

The abuse happened between June 2013 and August 2014.

Police learned about it when the mother of one of the children went to officers after her 10-year-old daughter said Pierce touched her inappropriately.

An 8-year-old girl gave a similar account of her time at the day care.

Both children said Pierce had given them candy and said not to tell his wife.

Pierce told investigators he hadn’t molested the girls or spent time alone with them.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced later this year.
