DUI patrols increased in Southeast King County this weekend

A DUI emphasis patrol will be held in Southeast King County this weekend for the second time in as many months.

“The Sheriff’s Office plans to attack the DUI problem by not only making arrests, but will also educate the public and businesses that sell alcohol in an effort to keep impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel,” Sgt. Cindi West wrote in a news release.

Additional deputies will be on patrol and will start their shifts stopping by bars and educating employees about the emphasis patrols and how to deal with intoxicated patrons.

If an impaired driver is arrested this weekend, deputies will visit the business where the suspected drunken driver was coming from to talk about over-serving.

The Sheriff’s Office held a DUI emphasis patrol with about 50 deputies last month.
