The girl noticed a man skulking nearby as she walked her dog in her Parkland neighborhood.
Soon after she returned home, there was a knock at the door.
Pierce County sheriff’s detectives say the man forced his way inside and raped the 13-year-old, who was home alone at the time.
The attack took place about 11 a.m. on July 30 near 132nd Street South.

The girl told investigators she’d seen the man walking back and forth along the street while she was walking the dog. He fled on foot from her home.
The man is described as black in his 20s or 30s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build and goatee.
