A sex offender who broke into at least three Lakewood homes while nude was arrested early Tuesday after eluding police for several weeks.

An anonymous tip led police to an attic where Curtis Sell, 53, was hiding. He was arrested on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Sell with three counts of residential burglary with sexual motivation. He is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday.

Charging documents give this account:

Sell broke into the first apartment about 6 a.m. on Aug. 2.

A woman woke up to find him leaning over her bed wearing only a condom and one of her headbands around his waist.

He occasionally made “a squealing animal type of noise,” records show.

The woman was able to push him out of her door and call police.

Two hours later in the same complex in the 4400 block of 111th Street Southwest, another woman awoke to find a naked Sell removing a window fan. He was half inside her bedroom.

“When she yelled, the male seemed startled, scooted back out of the window and ran away,” records show.

Just before noon on the same day, another woman reported coming home to find Sell inside her closet.

He was wearing only her bra and holding a pair of her underwear and a vibrator.

Sell left her home after the woman repeatedly told him to go.

While he was inside the home, he allegedly cut his hair, drank a soda in the fridge and opened her nail polish.

Police searched the neighborhood and found a small camp near the apartment complexes.

Sell’s identification and a cellphone with pictures of him wearing women’s lingerie were found there. A warrant was issued for him Monday on the burglary charges.

Sell was convicted in 1997 of second-degree child rape for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in his trailer.

He also has three convictions for failing to register as a sex offender.
