Steroid-fueled bodybuilder beats estranged wife’s new man, prosecutors say

A bodybuilder unhappy with his estranged wife’s new partner forced his way into the man’s apartment, choked him and beat him in a steroid-fueled rage, Pierce County prosecutors say.

The 37-year-old was arraigned Friday in Pierce County Superior Court on charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, harassment and fourth-degree assault. His bail was set at $150,000.

According to charging documents:

The woman told her bodybuilder husband she wanted a divorce earlier in the month. But she arrived at her boyfriend’s Bonney Lake apartment complex Wednesday to find her husband waiting outside.

“Find him,” the husband said.

She led him to the boyfriend’s apartment, thinking he wanted to talk.

Instead, the man forced his way into the apartment, then started choking the boyfriend, whom he outweighed by about 70 pounds.

After the boyfriend nearly passed out, the husband threw him outside the apartment, then slammed his head on the handrail between five and 10 times.

He threatened to throw the boyfriend off the balcony, but the man was able to slip from his grasp and run away.

The husband threatened the boyfriend as the boyfriend fled to the woman’s car before she drove him to the hospital.

The boyfriend needed stitches to close a wound near his eye. He also had bruising on his face and neck, cuts on his arms and a chipped tooth.

Police later talked to the man, who admitted he assaulted the man because his wife had an affair with him.

The woman told police she had filed for divorce two weeks before the assault and the only reason why she showed him where the man lived was because her husband told her, “I know he’s important to you, so I’m not going to do anything to him.”

That’s when she told police her husband used steroids to further his bodybuilding career.

Pierce County prosecutors may increase the charges to first-degree assault depending on the condition of the victim.
