Police fatally shoot armed man in Federal Way after he threatened strangers, officers

Federal Way police shot and killed a man late Monday after he allegedly pointed a gun at two officers.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. outside a car wash in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South.

Police were initially called to the scene on a report of an armed man threatening two strangers inside a car.

When officers arrived and told the man to put down his gun, he refused and instead pointed it at police, according to the department.

Both officers opened fire, shooting the man at least twice. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has not been identified.

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure after a shooting.

It’s unclear why the man was threatening the strangers with a gun in the first place.
