1 dead after South Tacoma shooting, police say

A man was shot and killed early Saturday in South Tacoma, according to police.

Police responded to a report of shots fired about 2:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of South 66th Street, near Tyler Street, to find a man with a gunshot wound on the sidewalk, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The 45-year-old man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, Cool said.

There is no information available about a possible suspect at this time, Cool said.

The investigation into the man’s death is ongoing.
