Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for help identifying a woman suspected of stealing an elderly woman’s wallet then racked up $6,600 in charges on her credit card.

A picture of the woman wearing a black Nike hat, blue jeans, pants and a blue hooded sweatshirt was posted on the sheriff’s department’s social media pages. On Facebook, it added the comment, “Since it’s Valentine’s Day we won’t talk about how much we hate people who steal from senior citizens ... instead let’s talk about how much we would LOVE to get this suspect identified and arrested! Can you help us?”

The woman is described as an “Asian or Hispanic female in her 30s.”

The woman is suspected of stealing the wallet between 9:30 and 10 a.m. at the University Place Trader Joe’s grocery store. By the time the victim called her credit card company, the card was used.

The company said her cards had just been used to make $3,700 in purchases at the Apple Store in Tacoma Mall and $2,900 at the Tacoma Best Buy.

Those with information about the suspect are asked to contact the sheriff’s department. “Instead of flowers and chocolates for Valentine’s Day,” the department posted on Facebook, “help us give her a free trip to the Pierce County Jail!”
