A 43-year-old man was found dead Saturday night in Tacoma, the victim of an apparent shooting, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department posted information about the shooting on its Facebook page just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the 9900 block of Steele Street in Tacoma after a report of a shooting. The shooting took place south of a nearby apartment building in a wooded area.

Deputies found the man in what they called a “large, unauthorized transient encampment.”

More details about the incident will be released Monday, according to the Facebook post.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
