A man who died Tuesday in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 after fleeing from Puyallup tribal police has been identified as Adrian Wahchumwash.
Washington State Patrol troopers said they believe Wahchumwash, 30, of Goldendale, was drunk when his car left the road and flipped onto its top on the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Port of Tacoma Road.
Moments before the accident, the State Patrol said, Wahchumwash had led tribal police on a short pursuit after officers tried to pull him over. Police ended the chase and Wahchumwash crashed shortly afterward.
He was thrown from the car because he was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
