Woman grabbed while walking on Cushman Trail

Gig Harbor Police are asking the community to keep an eye out for a suspect after a woman walking with her children on the Cushman Trail on Thursday afternoon was accosted by an unknown male.

The unknown male appeared to be jogging on the trail. After passing the woman twice, the suspect again approached from behind and grabbed her. He fondled her briefly before fleeing southeast on the trail.

The suspect is described as a Native American male, approximately 20 years old, 5-foot-10 with a thin build and wearing a gray Nike T-shirt and blue running shorts. He had thick, dark brown hair.

The woman was otherwise unharmed and the children were not directly involved, according to police.

The incident occurred in the area between Olympic Drive and the 14th line for Gig Harbor and Pierce County. The Gig Harbor Police Department is working with the Sheriff’s Department to increase patrols in this area.
