Tacoma man hurt after suffering heart attack, crashing on I-705

A 63-year-old Tacoma man was hurt early Tuesday after he had a heart attack and crashed his pickup on Interstate 705, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened about 3:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-705 near southbound Interstate 5.

Troopers said the man was exiting to I-5 when his pickup left the road and hit a light pole, then crossed across the lane and hit a jersey barrier.

He was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
