Tacoma man charged with rape of neighbor boy

A Tacoma man is accused of luring a 10-year-old neighbor boy into his house and raping him.

Dickie Bergeson, 62, pleaded not guilty Thursday to first-degree child rape and was ordered jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail. He was arrested this week after the boy told his mother what happened.

Charging papers gave this account:

The boy and his younger sister were riding bicycles past Bergeson’s house Aug. 5 when Bergeson motioned for him to come into the garage so he could show him a magazine.

Bergeson told the little girl to go home.

Bergeson showed the boy a pornographic magazine and demanded to perform oral sex on the child. He allegedly threatened to hurt the boy when he said no.

Bergeson then demanded to have sex and again threatened the boy if he told his mother.

In an interview after his arrest, Bergeson allegedly admitted to performing oral sex on the boy for what he said was about 20 seconds.
