Two arrested for Thursday Tacoma motel homicide

Tacoma police jailed two men Saturday morning in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday at the King Oscar Motel on South Hosmer Street.

Two Tacoma residents were booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of murder.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Kevin Young, 41, also of Tacoma. The Medical Examiner’s Office listed the cause of death as “shotgun wound to the abdomen.”

According to Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool, Young’s girlfriend called 911 just before 6 a.m. Thursday, saying he had been shot. Young was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon.

The shooting took place in one of the motel rooms, Cool said.

“The detectives investigating developed probable cause for the arrest of these two individuals,” Cool said.
