A man was found dead Sunday night in a parking lot at the grounds of the Washington State Fair, Puyallup police said.
Citizens called 911 just before 5:30 p.m. to report a man was unresponsive in the blue parking lot in the 1000 block of South Meridian, and crews determined he was dead upon their arrival.
Jeter said the 27-year-old from the Puyallup area had a stab wound to his chest, and that the death was being investigated as suspicious. The knife was found under the man’s body at the scene, he said.
Officials did not release the man’s name Sunday.
He had been contacted by police several times earlier in the day after reports that he had been intoxicated and disorderly at area businesses, Police Chief Bryan Jeter said.
“We dealt with him throughout the day. I think we had at least two, if not three contacts with him,” Jeter said. “We’re still investigating.”
