Lakewood woman hurt after jumping out window to escape fire

A woman in her 60s was injured Friday morning after jumping out the second-story window of her Lakewood apartment to escape a fire in the building.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to an area hospital to be treated for burns. She is listed in stable condition.

West Pierce firefighters were called to Lone Pine apartments, 5212 Chicago Ave. SW, just after 7 a.m. and found heavy flames coming from the stairwell and front of the building.

Crews extinguished the blaze but had not determined what started it.

No one else was hurt in the fire.

Battalion Chief Hallie McCurdy said six units were damaged in the blaze and eight people were displaced.
