Police were searching for suspects early Sunday in the fatal shooting of a man in Tacoma’s Lincoln District.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired about 4 a.m. near South Yakima Avenue and South 39th Street, where they found the man’s body, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
They shut down the area to the public and brought in a police dog to search for suspects, but didn’t find anyone.
A SWAT team responded as a precaution to a nearby nightclub after a call that someone was being held there against her will, but the report was unfounded, Cool said.

Police briefly detained and questioned about 20 people as they left the club, Cool said.
“They didn’t know whether the shooter had gone into the club or not,” Cool said about investigators. “He could easily have gone in there. We don’t know if the shooting has any connection at all to the club.”
Officers have not made any arrests in the case, and did not know the relationship between the shooter and the victim, Cool said.
The victim’s name and age were not released Sunday.
