Man charged with robbing Lakewood bank; suspect in other holdups

A convicted robber was charged Tuesday with holding up a Lakewood bank but was not arraigned because he was combative with jail staff.

Daniel Mills, 30, is charged with first-degree robbery for Monday’s holdup at a Chase Bank branch at 10011 Gravelly Lake Drive SW. Police said he also is a suspect in several other recent bank robberies in the region.

Pierce County prosecutors said Mills will be arraigned Wednesday.

Mills allegedly handed the teller a note demanding cash and then fled. Witnesses saw him leave in a 1967 Cadillac, prosecutors said.

Police received a tip that the bank robber might be in the 5600 block of Boston Avenue Southwest and found Mills there.

He also was taken into custody on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant.
