Alleged bank robber pleads not guilty to Lakewood holdup

Daniel Mills pleaded not guilty Wednesday to first-degree robbery in connection with a holdup at a Lakewood bank.

Mills, 30, was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday but could not be transported from Pierce County Jail because he was combative with corrections deputies.

Police said a man walked into the Chase Bank branch at 10011 Gravelly Lake Drive SW and handed a teller a note demanding money.

He was seen fleeing in a 1967 Cadillac, which officers spotted later that day on Boston Avenue Southwest.

Pierce County prosecutors said Mills is suspected of robbing other South South banks and will likely face additional charges.
