A woman died early Sunday when her SUV crashed with a tow truck in Tacoma, police said.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as 27-year-old Alexandria Shepherd of Tacoma.

A witness reported that the woman was driving at excessive speed when she hit the tow truck about 1:45 a.m. in the 9600 block of Yakima Avenue South, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
