A Tacoma man stabbed to death during an argument Monday has been identified as John Scott Ware Jr.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to perform an autopsy on Ware, 35, but Tacoma police said he suffered multiple stab wounds.
Neighbors told detectives they saw Ware fighting with someone just before 4 p.m. near South 12th and South State streets. He then made his way to a house and knocked on the front door seeking help.
He collapsed and died on the front porch, police said.

“Right now, TPD is literally without leads,” police spokeswoman Shelbie Boyd said. “If you saw something, say something.”
Ware did not live in the neighborhood but police believe he might have had acquaintances in the area.
Witnesses gave conflicting information about how many people Ware was arguing with and whether they were men or women.
Detectives believe Ware knew his attacker and it was not a random slaying.
