Sketch released of armed man who grabbed woman in Fort Steilacoom Park

Lakewood police have released a sketch of the armed man who grabbed a woman in Fort Steilacoom Park last week.

The man was white, in his 20s and 5 feet 7 with a thin, muscular build. He had a distinctive chest tattoo of a blue or purple sun. He was shirtless and wearing blue jeans and a blue or brown knit cap.

The attack took place about 2 p.m. Friday in the park when the man grabbed a 52-year-old woman from behind. She screamed after seeing a gun, and the man threw her to the ground before running off.

A passerby heard the screams and ran to help the woman.

She and the witness, who both noted the man had defined abs, worked with detectives to develop a composite sketch.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Lakewood police at 253-830-5000 or the department’s tip line at 253-830-5064.
