A shoplifting suspect died and three people were seriously injured Monday northeast of Auburn, after sheriff’s deputies said the suspect crashed with a pickup.
King County sheriff’s deputies responded about 6 p.m. to a reported theft from a Covington store, and once they found the suspect vehicle, pursued it for several minutes when it refused to stop, sheriff’s spokesman Jason Stanley said.
Deputies briefly lost sight of the car, and then found it wrecked with a pickup in the 32800 block of Southeast Auburn-Black Diamond Road.
The driver of the suspect vehicle died at the scene, and the two passengers in the car were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, Stanley said.
