Officials on Wednesday briefly locked down Carson Elementary School in South Hill as a precaution while Pierce County sheriff’s deputies searched for a suspect nearby, the Puyallup School District said.
A resident called 911 to report someone with a gun nearby.
When sheriff’s deputies searched the area, they found the person was carrying a BB gun in the neighborhood, and had not been doing anything wrong, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
The school district said the lockdown lasted 20 minutes.
