Fire strikes apparently empty Tacoma house

Tacoma firefighters were on the scene Saturday evening at an apparently unoccupied house near the intersection of South 60th and Junett Streets.

Tacoma Fire Department spokesman Ben Flescher said the fire was reported just after 5 p.m. Saturday and that firefighters fought the blaze for more than three hours as fire shot through the roof.

He said the house appeared to be vacant, but said that the one-and-a-half-story building and its attic were stuffed with materials that caught fire.
