Train hits car stuck on tracks in Tacoma, no one injured

A southbound Sounder train hit an unoccupied car Sunday in Tacoma.

No one was hurt when the train, headed for Lakewood, hit the vehicle about 6:45 p.m. near South 56th and South Washington streets, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The vehicle got stuck on the tracks, and when the driver and passengers saw the oncoming train, they were able to get out of the car to safety, she said.
