Woman killed in Spanaway-area crash

A Roy woman died when her car crashed with another Thursday near Spanaway, troopers said.

She was 57-year-old Penny A. Barlow, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The wreck happened about 1:45 p.m. at state Route 507 at 8th Avenue South, State Patrol spokesman Guy Gill said.

Injuries to two people in the other vehicle were not life-threatening, he said.

The woman who died at the scene was the causing driver, Gill said.

She lost control of her vehicle and left the road, then over corrected and headed back across the lanes, where she was hit by the other car, according to the State Patrol.

Speed was a factor, troopers said. They did not yet know if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Further details were not immediately available. Check back for updates.
