Crash damages, closes Puyallup River Bridge until it can be checked

A rear-end crash in Tacoma damaged and closed the Puyallup River Bridge on Sunday, pending inspection.

No one was seriously hurt in the wreck, which involved two vehicles, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The crash damaged pillars of the bridge, which connects Tacoma and Fife via Eells Street.

It’s not clear when the span will reopen, Cool said, but it will likely be checked Monday.
