A 69-year-old Tacoma man who died Tuesday night after the car he was driving plunged into Alder Lake first suffered from a medical event, officials said.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Kenneth Johnson. His cause of death is listed as a heart issue.
A driver called 911 about 7:20 p.m. after spotting Johnson’s 2010 Jeep partially submerged in the lake near Alder Cutoff Road East and National Park Highway, just south of Eatonville.
Emergency responders and divers pulled Johnson out of the water and tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
