Sounder service delayed after train hits vehicle north of Kent

Police are investigating after a Sounder train hit a vehicle in downtown Kent Tuesday night.

The crash happened north of Kent State on Smith Street at about 5:30 p.m.

Authorities said occupants in the vehicle got out before it was struck.

The collision has delayed the train.

Police will continue to investigate.

Injuries are unknown.


Sound Transit posted on its website about 6 p.m.: “Southline #1515 (5:12 pm Seattle departure) is being held North of Kent Station for a medical emergency. As a result train #1517 (5:42 pm Seattle departure) is being held at Tukwila Station. Train #1519 (6:12 pm Seattle departure) will be held at King St. Station until further notice.
