Man sentenced to 15 years in fatal Fox Island stabbing

A man who participated in the fatal robbery of a Gig Harbor resident whose body was found on Fox Island last year was sentenced Monday to 15 years in state prison.

Nevada Lee Pettes, 33, pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder in the death of Jacob Glenn, 23.

Glenn died after being stabbed in the parking lot of the Fox Island Grocery and Deli either late Nov. 20 or early Nov. 21, 2013. Sheriff’s investigators said Pettes and co-defendant Jason Madron, 31, made arrangements to buy drugs from Glenn but decided to rob him instead. Glenn’s family has said he was not a drug dealer.

A customer who stopped by the store to buy gasoline found Glenn’s body the morning of Nov. 21.

Pettes, who was under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for a previous drug conviction, fled Western Washington after the crime. U.S. marshals and a team from the state Department of Corrections tracked him down and arrested him in Flint, Michigan, in February.

Madron pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree murder. He admitted stabbing Glenn after he struggled during the robbery. He faces 16 to 24 years when sentenced in January.
