Man found dead on Mount Rainier identified

A man found dead at Mount Rainier has been identified as 37-year-old Louis Landry of Puyallup, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday.

Landry went missing after getting caught in a storm Saturday night, and his body was found about noon Monday at the head of Edith Creek.

He intended to spend the night at Camp Muir while on a snowshoe trip, but had to descend because of a winter storm.

He went missing on the way down, getting separated from two other people who also were making their way down the mountain.

Camp Muir was as cold as 2 degrees below zero at midnight Monday.
