Shelton man fatally shot following confrontation with deputies

Deputies fatally shot a Shelton man Friday night after responding to an apparent suicide attempt, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was identified as 53-year-old Tim Elliot of Shelton.

The incident began about 9:30 p.m. when deputies and medics responded to reports that a man had shot himself in the 600 block of Island Lake Drive, north of Shelton. The man was still alive.

There was a confrontation when two deputies arrived, and Elliot was shot. He died at the scene.

Neither deputy was injured. The deputy who shot Elliot was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were to conduct an investigation into Elliot’s death.
