Washington State Patrol troopers were trying Tuesday to find the owners of a pug who was rescued Monday running free in South Hill.
A trooper patrolling near 152nd Street East and Meridian Avenue East noticed the dog.
“The little guy was running around and looked well taken care of but no one was around,” trooper Guy Gill said Tuesday.
After waiting several minutes to see if the dog’s owner would show up, the trooper coaxed the pug into his patrol car.

“We were concerned that if we let him go, he’d possibly run out in the road and get hit,” Gill said.
The trooper took the pug to an animal hospital in Tacoma, which later released the dog to the Pierce County Humane Society.
Anyone with information about the dog’s owner was asked to call the Humane Society at 253-383-2733.
