Officials identify Tacoma man killed in collision with 13-year-old driver

A motorcyclist who was killed Sunday evening when he crashed into a vehicle driven by a 13-year-old girl was identified Tuesday by the Pierce County medical examiner.

Terrance T. Dillon, 26, died of multiple blunt force injuries after his motorcycle collided with a 2007 Mazda at the intersection of Portland Avenue East and East 29th Street in Tacoma, according to a news release from the medical examiner’s office. Dillon was from Tacoma.

The medical examiner’s office ruled his death an accident.

Dillon was traveling south on Portland Avenue when a northbound vehicle turned left in front of him to go west on East 29th Street, police said. Dillon hit the passenger side of the car and died at the scene.

The 13-year-old driver and her 42-year-old parent in the passenger seat were uninjured.

There were no signs of impairment in the driver, according to police, and the crash was found to be an accident. However, the parent in the passenger seat could face criminal charges for allowing the girl to drive.

Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Wendy Haddow said a misdemeanor charge of allowing an unauthorized person to drive would be forwarded to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
