Police seek driver whose Corvette hit bicyclist in Tacoma

Tacoma police are searching for the driver of a Corvette that hit a bicyclist last month and sped away.

The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 6100 block of North Ninth Street.

A 53-year-old woman was riding across the street when the red Corvette struck her and fled east toward Pearl Street, police said.

Detectives said the car might have damage to the front end or driver’s side. Witnesses were unable to tell whether the driver was male or female.

The bicyclist suffered serious head injuries but is expected to recover.
