Pierce County prosecutors have charged a man who allegedly molested two girls attending a home-based day care operated by his wife on Key Peninsula.
Jimmy Pierce faces four counts of first-degree child molestation.
The mother of a 10-year-old girl told sheriff’s deputies in August that Pierce touched her daughter inappropriately and asked the child not to tell Pierce’s wife.
An 8-year-old girl also disclosed that Pierce gave her candy, molested her and told her not to tell.
The abuse is alleged to have happened from June 2013 to August 2014.
Pierce denied molesting the children. His wife told detectives she’d never seen Pierce act inappropriately with her charges but admitted she leaves him alone with the kids for brief periods.
“His statements were inconsistent as he tried to distance himself from any contact with the children,” according to charging papers.
Detectives do not believe there were other victims.
