Arrest made in stabbing death of man found in Tacoma ravine

A man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on Friday for investigation of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a teenager whose body was found in a Tacoma ravine earlier this week.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool released no details of the arrest, saying they would have to wait until the suspect appears in court next week.

Court records indicate he is in his 40s and has a history of drug-related convictions.

The remains of Jesus Isidor-Mendoza, 19, were found Monday in a wooded area in the 3000 block of Delin Street. Police said the area is frequented by transients and that his body was discovered behind a derelict house.

Isidor-Mendoza was last seen Oct. 22 leaving his mother’s home to attend a class at Pierce College. Police said he did not make it to that class, and his mother reported him missing when he did not return home.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Thursday that Isidor-Mendoza died of a stab wound to the neck.
