A 36-year-old woman appears to have fatally shot her 16-year-old daughter, then herself at their Bonney Lake-area home, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office said it did not expect to release the names of the mother and daughter until Monday.
The woman’s 35-year-old boyfriend found them when he came home from work and called 911 about 10:40 p.m. Friday, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Deputies arrived at the home in the 20400 block of Rhododendron Drive East to find the woman and teenager fatally shot in the girl’s bedroom.

A note found in the home, which detectives believe was written by the mother, led investigators to believe the deaths are the result of a homicide-suicide, Troyer said.
“There’s nothing to tell us any different at this point,” he said.
Sumner School District spokeswoman Sarah Gillispie said the district was making plans to have support services available for Bonney Lake High School students, staff and families Monday morning.
Further details were not immediately available.
