Steilacoom soldier charged with possessing child porn

The wife of a Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier turned him in after discovering a hidden cache of child pornography in their Steilacoom home, court records show.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged John Bruner, 28, with eight counts of possession of depictions of minors in sexually explicit conduct. No arraignment date has been set.

Bruner’s wife called police in May 2014 to report what she’d found. Bruner allegedly admitted to downloading the inappropriate images and videos while deployed.

When he returned home, Bruner transferred the child porn to a hard drive and hid it, according to charging papers.

It was not immediately clear when or where he was deployed.
