Man who jumped out of moving pickup on I-5 onramp in Fife dies of injuries

A passenger who opened the door of a moving pickup Friday night and jumped out on a freeway ramp in Fife has died, according to the State Patrol and the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The 34-year-old Spokane man left the truck about 5 p.m. on an Interstate 5 onramp at 54th Avenue East, the State Patrol said. He was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

A family member contacted The News Tribune on Sunday to say that the man passed away Saturday night. The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Sunday that the man had died.
