UPDATE as of 9:15 p.m. A 29-year-old man died after he laid down on the tracks in front of the train, Auburn police spokesman Steve Stocker said. He described the death as a suicide, and said it happened shortly before 6 p.m. in Auburn, north of Sumner, near Lake Tapps Parkway East and East Valley Highway East.
UPDATE as of 7:30 p.m. Sound Transit said all trains were released and are moving.
INITIAL POST: Trains headed south from Seattle were delayed following some sort of accident with a pedestrian Wednesday in Sumner, firefighters and Sound Transit said.
Train 1513, which left Seattle shortly before 5 p.m., had a medical emergency in Sumner, Sound Transit said in a release.
Crews were at a “train pedestrian accident,” near East Valley Highway and 24th Street East, the East Pierce Fire & Rescue union, IAFF Local 3520 tweeted just before 6 p.m.
A train that left Seattle at 5:12 p.m. was held at Kent Station, and trains scheduled to leave Seattle at 5:42 and 6:12 p.m. were expected to be delayed.
